LCW Holland 2020 Athlete Update

This year has certainly been one for ups and downs and has tested us all, and we are sure many of you were looking forward to racing this September.

We have certainly found ourselves in strange circumstances and this is no exception.

After a number of recent meetings with the municipalities, suppliers and the event organisers in Holland it does seem likely that LCW Holland will run on 18th-20th September. However, since the Netherlands has recently been added to the travel quarantine list for the UK and Ireland it is not realistic and, in many cases, possible for people to travel to the event.

The cancellation of the event is not something the municipalities are looking to action as they feel it could be detrimental to their regions for several reasons. They have agreed plans to run the event ‘Covid safe’ and will be adhering strictly to guidelines.

As the UK & Ireland markets are unable to attend the event, we are actioning the following:-

1) All entries from UK & Ireland will be deferred* to the May 2021 event, 14th – 16th May. The reason we are doing it this way is we understand that arrangements need to be made for accommodation or travel.

2) Should the restrictions lift, and the guidelines allow athletes to travel we will give you the option to reinstate your place for this year or remain deferred to 2021.

N.B Should you wish to leave your place live for the 2020 event in the hope that restrictions will be lifted, please contact [email protected]. We only advise travel within your designated country’s government guidelines. Should the event be cancelled you will be moved to the May 2021 event.

*Deferrals will be actioned Friday 21/08/20, this will be an automatic process. You do not need to do anything else. If you have ordered merchandise, this will be carried over with your entry.

At LCW HQ we are disappointed that the restrictions aren’t allowing the UK & Ireland to travel, this could be the first time in LCW history that the LCW core team cannot travel to an overseas event. But we understand that focus and priority still remains to be the health and safety of the public, which is one of the LCW Values.
